The School Drop-Out Prevention and Re-entry program started in March, 2007 as a pilot program in urban Berazategui, Argentina. The program orients and supports schools and educators in their work towards inclusion and improving the quality of education that students receive. The program develops methodologies and strategies for the retention and re-entry of youth that are at high risk of dropping-out of school or are already outside of the formal school system.
During the program, participants (including teachers, administrators and students) receive special training workshops, social-work assistance, school scholarships and personalized mentoring. Additionally, Cimientos finances extracurricular activities, forums for participants to discuss their experiences, teacher training sessions, school network promotion and closely follows the student’s and school’s progress.
